How do I apply for a canon character?
Typically, when you apply for a canon, you will be required to 'audition' for that character as well as submit an application. When this occurs, you will be asked to join a PR and RP a few short posts with a veteran canon player. The log is then submitted to the admin for final review.
How strict are you on canon portrayal?
We are extremely strict. If you play a canon, you need to be comfortable with that character, and capable of portraying his or her personality. At the same time, there is room to develop canons as the storyline progresses and characters are forced to grow beyond the screen where we've watched them. However, canons should have the appropriate play log to support any deviation from their original character.
Is this SL all about fighting?
The short answer: No. Now, let me expand: The rebellion is the main focus of the storyline, it's the reason we are here, it's the plot that is going to motivate and unite the entire group. That being said, there will be times (lots of times) when there will be no fighting at all. Characters have to experience other situations in order to grow. There will be betrayal, comedy, tragedy, romance, deception, and that's just to name a few.
I hate the player of (insert character name), do I have to interact with them?
Only in character. I am not asking you to be friends with everyone in the storyline, I understand that is just not realistic. But, there's no acceptable reason why you cannot interact with someone IC.
Can I help with the SL?
Um, OF COURSE! If you have information on the era, the setting, technology, culture, religion -- please, please don't even ask if you can post it for the group. Just put your info together and post it under the SL Information board. The more passion we put into the SL, the better the results will be.
The canon I want to play is already taken, now what?
Well, I do keep a backlog of people interested in playing canons. If things don't work out with the original player, the role will be recast so the story can continue. If you are interested in 'reserving' a played canon, contact bornbeneathher@aol.com for more information.
Can you help me make an original character?
Yes, depending on which side you are interested in (Roman vs Rebellion), we have teams of players who can assist in crafting plots that include/introduce your character. Please contact bornbeneathher@aol.com for more information.
Can I claim the canon PB for my original character?
Only if that character is not an active part of the Spartacus series. An example would be the image of Varro, who died before the starting point of our SL, or the unused image of a character who was recast, i.e. Naevia or Spartacus.
I thought that canon character died in the series, what's going on?
Sometimes we will resurrect characters who have died in the series, assuming it will not impact the overall SL. A few examples of possible resurrections: Aurelia, Petrois, etc.
I've never seen the show, can I join?
Absolutely. As long as you have a little knowledge of the setting, and are comfortable with the period, you are welcome to play an original character.
